Selected intangible cultural heritage craftsman Zhang Guoquan handmade ancient Song brocade fabrics, natural mulberry silk mixed with milky white, green, purple brown, light gold plant-dyed silk, original Jiangnan freehand magnolia branches + butterfly pattern. The cool mist blue brocade background is covered with fine intertwining twigs. Slender magnolia flowers bloom along the branches one after another. A colorful butterfly flutters beside the flower branches. The color is elegant and high-end. The ancient hand-made jacquard creates an embossed fabric texture. The silk thread layers are fine and the texture is far better than the cheap printed fabric shells on the market. Segmented composite TPU soft shell, 1:1 real machine mold, heightened lens ring to protect against bumps in all directions; natural mulberry silk brocade surface is breathable, skin-friendly, anti-sweat and fingerprints, making it dry to hold in all seasons. Magnolia means a house full of gold and jade, elegance and smoothness, and a bright future; butterfly is homophonic to Fudie, which represents a succession of good fortunes and happy events. Magnolia has been a famous garden flower in the south of the Yangtze River and an auspicious flower for literati since ancient times. In ancient times, magnolia brocade was mostly used for ladies' clothes, brocade boxes in the study, and elegant gifts. For personal use, it shows a gentle temperament. Giving gifts means gold and jade are healthy and good luck always exists.
Song brocade is listed as a national intangible cultural heritage. Craftsman Zhang Guoquan has been engaged in Song brocade weaving in Suzhou for decades. He is deeply engaged in the restoration of ancient brocade and the innovation of national style patterns. He often refers to the flower and bird brocade manuscripts of Ming and Qing literati and the real scenes of Jiangnan gardens to create patterns. Magnolia is an iconic flower and tree in the south of the Yangtze River. Since ancient times, it has symbolized nobility and wealth, and the house is full of gold and jade. The butterfly pattern is a traditional symbol of good luck. The craftsman combined the magnolia scenery of Su-style gardens and integrated magnolia and butterflies into the Song brocade weaving, replicating the simple and elegant aesthetics of the Song Dynasty literati. The entire fabric is hand-woven using the old looms. The weaving process of multi-color flower branches is cumbersome. The output of the old looms is rare. The dyeing materials of plants and plants are natural, and the fabrics are scarce in mass production.
